ISSUE:  When booting a computer system with an attached IBM MM-series monitor (MM50/55,MM70/75), the IBM logo screen / memory count is restricted to the upper portion of the screen, and the image rolls continuously.  Once the system has booted into Windows and displays at 640x480 or better, the issue vanishes.

PROBLEM:  System-critical information cannot be viewed, such as the BIOS setup screens.  Also, a user that is experiencing this issue is warned to NOT update their BIOS, as the informative screens cannot be viewed to complete the procedure properly.

CAUSE:  Failure of part #STV7778, which controls the vertical refresh rate of the monitor.  The failure has been noted to be intermittent, and due to increased heat within the monitor, although this is not its root cause.

RESOLUTION:  Replacement of part #STV7778 (F22BQ9623) with part #TDA9103 from the following supplier:

WARNING:  As this is not a "user-serviceable" part, it is best to allow a qualified service technician replace it.
